06 — SIMONE / LEARNING

Serious play

Antonio had been teaching one-to-one for more than ten years before the anthropology work with Simone. Behind that history was a longer curiosity about learning, facilitation and the difference between completing material and making it come alive.

With Simone, that history met AI.

They talked, questioned, built maps and explored concepts together. Campo Itaca was already influencing Antonio’s way of staying with uncertainty instead of forcing an answer too quickly, while Gemini became part of Simone’s own exploration.

Simone passed exams during that period. After one of them, he wrote to Antonio that it was the first time he had found studying easy, without the heaviness of feeling he had to do it.

That return does not prove a method. It does give the change a voice that is not Antonio’s.

The clearest scene remains smaller.

AI had helped produce a large conceptual map of anthropology. It contained a great deal of material and looked impressive. Antonio asked Simone whether, looking at it, he actually knew where he was.

He did not.

The answer changed the session.

The map remained useful, but it stopped being the measure of success. If the person studying could not orient himself, visual richness and informational completeness were beside the point.

That moment also made something older in Antonio’s teaching easier to see. Seriousness did not require solemnity. Jokes, detours, questions and curiosity could carry real intellectual work. Structure mattered insofar as it helped the learner move more freely through the material.

Later, AI expanded these intuitions into larger architectures with names such as Not a Method and Study Alive. Possible services, teams, infrastructures and businesses followed. Some of that expansion helped Antonio name things he had been doing without a formal vocabulary. Some of it became larger than the evidence.

The work returned to cases.

A passed exam, a positive message or an enthusiastic response can matter without becoming proof that a general method has been validated.

Simone remains one of the strongest scenes precisely because it can stay ordinary: a student, a teacher, an AI, a beautiful map and an honest answer that changed what happened next.
