07 — WORKING BESIDE GIOVANNA
Building together, and learning when to step back
The collaboration with Giovanna has moved through many forms: documentation, websites, events, Masters, Casa Felice, international projects and the practical work required to keep all of those things alive.
Antonio’s place inside that world changed gradually. Support and organisation opened into design, facilitation and ideation. By the International Forums of 2023 and 2025, he was deeply involved in making large events happen across many different kinds of work.
Intensity did not automatically make the arrangement sustainable.
Over time Antonio began withdrawing from much of the daily machinery. The personal cost had become too high, and some of the surrounding habits and relationships no longer matched the way he wanted to work. What remained were the parts of the collaboration that still felt alive enough to justify entering again.
Follemente Insieme is one small example.
Antonio offered to rebuild a website without taking back permanent responsibility for the whole project. With Ganga and other tools, he moved through platforms, files, scripts, forms and deployment until a new site was online.
Nearby, he also tried to bring a different structure to part of the financial and organisational flow.
That proposal stopped.
The two outcomes belong together. Knowing a system closely can make change easier to imagine, but familiarity does not give one person authority over every part of it.
Handoff raised a related question. If a site, document or workflow works only while Antonio remains available to rescue every edit, login or decision, then the object has not fully become the other person’s.
Gaja Ecosystem grows in the background of this longer relationship. It is neither a clean break from the years with Giovanna nor simply another project inside the old arrangement. It is an attempt to give some of what accumulated across those years a more durable form.
The movement here is not only collaboration. It includes affection, friction, changing roles, withdrawal and return — and the attempt to keep building without confusing closeness with ownership.
